Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Keith Andrews believes the side have edged closer to the play-offs following the 2-0 win over Yeovil.
The Seagulls have leapfrogged Reading back in to sixth place and the Irishman admits there’ll be plenty of Albion players with their fingers crossed tomorrow afternoon as the remaining play-off chasers all play.
“We’d like to have our own destiny in our own hands” he told seagulls.co.uk.
“It was always going to be important for us to get maximum points tonight after the disappointment of Blackpool so it [the win] certainly puts pressure on the team below us.
“They’ve got a game in hand but they’ve got to win it now, so we’ll be watching on eagerly tomorrow afternoon and, fingers crossed, they don’t get the results they need.
“The chance to fight for promotion was a major part in us [Andrews and international team-mate Stephen Ward] coming here.

With key contributions arriving from substitutes Kazenga LuaLua and Solly March against Yeovil, Andrews was quick to highlight the squad’s freshness as they set their sights on next week’s clash with Nottingham Forest.

“We’re alright. You saw that tonight when the manager rotated the starting 11.
“The importance of the subs coming on and being fresh was key and they were fantastic when they did come on.
“But we’ll have a break over the weekend and we’ll be raring to go again next week.”
