Albion chairman Tony Bloom has praised the job done by head coach Oscar Garcia in his first season in English football.

The Spaniard has steered the injury-plagued Seagulls to within a point and a place of the play-offs ahead of tonight's penultimate match against Yeovil at the Amex.

Bloom said: "Whatever the outcome of the last two games and maybe the play-offs, Oscar and the players have done really well this season.

"Our terrible luck with injuries - particularly in the first half of the season - has been a tough hurdle to overcome.

"Being head coach of a Championship team as your first experience of English football is a tough ask, and I would like to congratulate Oscar on completing this season with skill, patience and dignity."

Very generous and rather pragmatic comments from Tony Bloom and no doubt trying to manage expectations of fans and media - which ever way the final two games go for us.

I guess if we don't make the play offs having got so close, in spite of the circumstances Tony he will be a tad frustrated like most of us. But if Tony is fairly content then we should probably should be too.

No doubt Tony will have greater expectations in the second year of Oscar's contract.

Can't be true. I read on here in the last week that Tony expected top 6, and any less was failure.

"skill, patience and dignity" - not words that can be attributed to some on here. Perhaps, should the worst happen tonight, those words could be remembered by some even if they disagree with his tactics.

If the owner is happy, then so am I. Bollocks to whatever the naysayers on here say.

Good for him. Assuming that isn't the usual kiss of death, that's a skillful and dignified thing to say.

Isn't that what Man United said about Moyes after they sacked him ?
