Oscar Garcia says it will be "an unbelievable season" if Albion get promoted
Oscar Garcia wants to match his title-winning feats in Israel – by taking Albion into the Premier League.
The Seagulls head coach reckons promotion this season would be “at the same level” as winning the league with Maccabi Tel Aviv last year.
Albion aim to get back into the top six at Huddersfield today.
Their head coach has taken the pressure off his men by insisting they have had a good season, whatever happens.
But, in his quiet and reserved way, he is relishing the battle for honours.
Oscar said: “Promotion wouldn’t be my best achievement because last year being champion with Maccabi for the first time in ten years was very important. “Not just for me but for people there.
“But going up with Brighton would be at the same level.
“The great thing at this stage is to be fighting for something, not in middle of the table waiting for the season to end.”
Oscar admits a calm approach will be key over the next four matches.
But he added: “I think wherever we finish it has been a good season.
“If we don’t get into the play-offs it will still be a good season bearing in mind everything that has happened this season.
“If we get into the play-offs and don’t go up, it will be a very good season.
“If we get promoted, it will be an unbelievable season.”
Matt Upson was being supervised by medical staff at training yesterday and remains a doubt for the Seagulls with hip, ankle and knee problems.
Will Buckley (hamstring) misses the trip to Yorkshire.
Oscar has not ruled out Buckley for the home game against Blackpool on Monday.
