As you probably all know by now the NHL has had a re-organisation and teams have moved divisions and the playoff format has had to change. This season we still have the Eastern and Western conferences but each conference is now made up of two divisions not three. The top three of each division qualify along with the two highest placed finishers regardless of what division they are in.
So at the end of regular season this is what we have:

Eastern Conference

Atlantic Division

1. Boston
2. Tampa Bay
3. Montreal
4. Detroit

Metropolitan Division

1. Pittsburgh
2. NY Rangers
3. Philadelphia
4. Columbus

Western Conference

Central Division

1. Colorado
2. St. Louis
3. Chicago
4. Minnesota
5. Phoenix

Pacific Division

1. Anaheim
2. San Jose
3. Los Angeles

And this is how the first round of matches looks; remember it’s not just home and away in the NHL it’s the best of seven matches. I will update the results every day.

Eastern Conference

Boston Bruins v Detroit Red Wings
Tampa Bay Lightning v Montreal Canadians
Pittsburgh Penguins v Columbus Blue Jackets
New York Rangers v Philladelphia Flyers

Western Conference

Colorado Avalanche v Minnesota Wild
St. Louis Blues v Chicago Blackhawks
Anaheim Ducks v Dallas Stars
San Jose Sharks v Los Angeles Kings

Very excited for this, being a native of Canada for many many years...

Just to point out you have one small typo in there near the end, "Columbus Avalanche"

Can I ask how you watch your NHL, I subscribe to premier sports but they only show in SD. I am contemplating NHL GC next season and wondered if you use it and if so what is it like??

I'm hoping the Rangers do better this year - but not holding my breath. Good to see Martin Brodeur get a good send off after the Devils beat the Bruins 3-2, as this could be his last game. I've always followed the Rangers but still keep an eye on the Devils.

Brilliant service, been using it since it was available over here. Couldn't live without it. Just to warn you they do blackout games that are being shown live on premier sports.

Obviously I will be cheering on my beloved bruins but I'm not as confident as I have been in previous years due to the dreaded presidents trophy curse. Always have a western pick for the post season and this year its the ducks, I feel the blues will bottle it and I just can't bring myself to cheers on the Blackhawks.

Good to see. Ice Caps in the play-offs. Be nice to do well before they're taken off to Thunder Bay.

Are they being relocated again? If my memory serves me right haven't they only been back for a few years since Winnipeg stole Manitoba's arena.

After a shaky start Rangers beat the Flyers 4-1 including 2 goals in a 4 minute power play in the 3rd period. Marvelous scenes at MSG.
