[h=3]Why a return to Premier League would be so special for Upson[/h]11:21am Friday 4th April 2014 in Albion By Brian Owen
Matt Upson
Matt Upson wants to complete “probably the biggest achievement of my career” by returning to the Premier League.
The inspirational centre-back aims to help Albion take another step towards the play-offs by beating Barnsley at Oakwell tomorrow.
Upson dropped down from the top flight when he signed from Stoke, initially on loan midway through the season.
But he is determined to get back there.
Upson is eyeing an eventual switch to coaching after hanging up his boots.
But he said: “I want to play as long as possible. I think there is evidence this season that I have the capabilities to do that.
“After that who knows what happens?
“On a personal note, to play football in the Premier League again before I retire would probably be the biggest achievement of my career given the past few years and how my career has gone.
“For me that is a massive incentive and a massive goal I’m hungry to achieve.”
