Our Father is part owned by a Brighton family, but I'll be betting The Package (@20/1). If Soll gets in the race I'll probably have a small ew bet on him as well.

:)

I'm waiting for Uncle Spielberg or 1066gull to post who they are backing first.

Then I'll pick another horse.

Long Run has been campaigned for this all season. Not many Gold Cup winners run in the National. Lot of weight to carry but along with Tidal Bay, is class act in the race. Age just gives Long Run the edge for me and Mountainous at a big price e/w as well.

I'm on.....
Monbeg Dude at 33/1 (placed in December) & 20/1 (placed in February)
Tidal Bay 25/1 & 20/1 (placed in February)
Burton Port 50/1 & 33/1 (placed in March)
Double Seven 40/1 & 33/1 (placed in March)

Monbeg Dude - stays all day, only worry is getting outpaced.
Tidal Bay - absolute nutcase who seems as good as ever at the age of 13. Could also get outpaced but will be staying on in the last mile. Very well handicapped.
Burton Port - 4th in the Gold Cup in 2012, not been trying too hard until the weights came out when he was 2nd at Newbury last time. I'm sure AP would loved to have ridden this exceptionally well handicapped horse for Jonjo but he's got to ride for JP.
Double Seven - ran up a sequence of wins in Ireland in 2013, ran a great race when not trying last time out and has to enter equations with AP on board. Wouldn't want much rain.

If I had to pick one it would be Burton Port.

Good luck everyone.

After my most successful Cheltenham ever I'm sure i'll manage to mess my record up here but oh well

Balthazar King @20/1
Big Sch @25/1

actually won with Neptune last year and snuck the 150/1 ew on the 5th horse - admittedly due to having him in the office sweepstake

Been backing odds and sods on Pineau De Re for the last month, little e/w bets every so often at prices from 50/1 all the way down to the current price of 20/1...

Can't generate much enthusiasm for a "sport" that results over a season in the death of 1 in 35 of the horses that take part and depends on the betting industry for much of its financing.

You can even bet on how many horses will fall at the first fence

I really don't understand why people have multiple picks on one race??

I have a friend who had 8 (eight) horses last year, he got a place with one and was delighted.

For the record I've gone for Big Shu, think he's a dark horse.
