Nathan Jones praised Brighton & Hove Albion’s character as the Seagulls twice fought from behind for a vital point which keeps the club “in the mix” for a play-off place.*
“We were not at our best tonight – we’ve played better in recent games and lost – but tonight the players showed fantastic character and full credit to them, that’s exactly why we believe in them. We’ve got some great pros at the club who drive each other on.
“Blackburn put us under a lot of pressure and we had to defend well but if there’s going to be any headline tonight it’s about character, and that’s what’s kept us in the hunt.*
“We were pleased with the character the players showed, and how we came back against a very good side. We didn’t play particularly well overall, we didn’t defend as we normally do, but we showed a lot of determination to come back and get a point – a point that will be a big point.*
“I was so pleased we were able to put an end to a run of bad results. It’s been a tough couple of weeks and we felt we haven’t got what we deserved from the performances.*
“We know we have not been as clinical as we would have liked, and given away silly things, but now we come down to the business end of the season, the nitty-gritty.*
“This was a big point for us that kept Blackburn at arms’ reach and with this being our game in hand it was important we came away with something. Now we’ve got a big week coming up and if we can be in and around it after these next two games, it will be a real positive for us.”

Assistant head coach Jones also praised the impact of Albion’s subs, Dale Stephens, Solly March and Kazenga LuaLua, adding, “All three subs were excellent. Dale started poorly when he came on, which is not him as he’s a technically superb player, but then he’s popped up at the end with what I know he can do.*
“We had to lift the players afterwards because they’re a bit down not to have won, but they should be under no illusions: it was a great point. *I’m sure it will be vital in the end.
“We had a chat about things because we didn’t feel we were getting the results we deserved. *We’ve been the better team in our last three of those games and some of them we’ve dominated without killing teams off.
“We’re right in the mix. We’ve got some difficult games coming up but if we win our games, we’ll be in the play-offs. We’ve stopped the losing run, we’ve got a point tonight, and another positive result on Saturday and we’re right in there.”*
Albion will be without Bruno Saltor for the next two games, after the Spaniard picked up his tenth caution of the season – but Rohan Ince is expected to shake off the dead leg which forced him off at half-time tonight.
