So he's going no where.


In an interview earlier in the day Charlie said it was their most important game of the season and a must win. Clearly, a nail in the coffin and the lid is closing fast. Sunderland had a decent chance of staying up..games in hand and some pretty average teams around them. They now look like going down, with a tough run-in and a rookie manager at that level ( compared to the likes of Pulis )
The honeymoon period is over for Gus at Sunderland. The early excitement has gone and the fans are now seeing through all the talk. See you next season.

Rhetorical I hope because court action, TV "sackings", giving up 2 months before the end of the season and publicly throwing your toys out of the pram over budgets tends to burn a few bridges.

I think PB would could reverse the digits of his 91% season ticket renewal stats for the season after GP returns!

To be fair a large amount of fans on the Sunderland board are saying it's the players who are not up to it, and that it would be crazy to sack the manager yet again.

That said, it's hardly a ringing endorsement of Gus himself. You get the feeling on the plus side he got a lot of credit in the bank - beating Newcastle, making it to a Cup Final and getting a bounce from the players after he arrived, but on the minus side he had a bad transfer window, he put out a weak team in the Cup vs. Hull and now he's making strange team selections and dropping key points.
