Six Brighton-based friends will be tackling the Brighton Marathon in honour of their late friend James Wilson who passed away in November 2013 at the age of 26.
Wilson tragically died late last year after a long and brave battle against Cystic Fibrosis, and his closest friends have decided to undertake the challenge of the 26.2 mile run to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
All six runners were friends of Wilson from their days at Cardinal Newman Secondary School in Hove and include two Albion season-ticket holders, James Meade and Chris O’Malley, along with Vincent Hau, Aaron Shamoon, the Seagulls’ Spanish translator Edwin Enriquez and club webmaster and press officer Adam Tighe.

Tighe told seagulls.co.uk, “This is solely our way of paying tribute to a fantastic person while raising some important funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
“James was an incredible man who faced his illness with tremendous courage and dignity. He never once complained and lived a fuller life in 26 years than many achieve in 70.
“Even after his death we were finding out more stories about him that we had no idea of and it only highlighted further just how much he didn’t let his illness stop him.
“Many of us moan about inane problems but James just wouldn’t do it despite what he had to endure; he was a very strong person and how he dealt with his condition was inspiring.
“We were all very fortunate to have been his friend and his loss was a devastating blow to all of us and especially to his family; we all continue to miss him every day.
“But by taking part in the marathon we hope we can do something positive in his memory and hopefully raise important funds that help others who have to battle with cystic fibrosis. Anything that anyone can spare, however little, would be greatly appreciated by all of us and especially his family.”
