Exhaust Problem

My son has a renault clio and the exhaust has snapped. The back section with the box is only six months old and looks fine. The bit that has snapped is where it joins the next pipe and we now have a couple of inches of rusted old pipe stuck inside the nice new back end.

Can anyone suggest away of getting that out, so he only has to replace the middle part?

Grip the rusted section tightly with a pair of Mole Grips, and hammer them like f*ck longways to extricate the rusty bit out of the tail section
