Do we do any in training? Piss poor again today and need a variation against teams with strong aerial defenders. Numerous corners and free kicks today but didnt look a threat at all! Nearly all the aerial balls that went into their box(apart from Buckley half chance and Ulloa sitter!) were met by a red shirt. The few times they werent, Ipswich made sure they got to the `second ball` first, far too easily at times. Garcia needs to adjust tactics when playing teams like this, because a few teams have come to the Amex and got a result by frustrating us to go directer and filling their box to deal with this. More counter attack is a possibility, but then you have to rely on the opposing teams to have a go themselves, which some are a bit reluctant to do at times. All becomes very tactical, but Garcia and Jones etc are paid well to sort it out.

One free kick was horrific - outside their box and we slow passed it to a defender.

Don't get me started on crosses, overhit, or looping and slow.

It's all very well doing a training ground routine as long as there's not a defender placed exactly where you're trying play the ball. It was so obvious what we were going to do at the end of 1st half.

Word for word 100% this. I said the same during the match. Buckley won three free kicks right in front of us and each one was identical, in that Ipswich dealt with them easily. There was no creativity at all.

Other than the fact Ulloa alone, should have had a brace of headers, possibly even a hat-trick, you might have a point.

In all fairness to Ulloa, you rarely see him go 1v1, the other CB is waiting in and around the first challenge. Its the way we play at times. The header he missed in the 2nd half was when he managed to muscle between two defenders!

Every free kick we had totalling about 5/6 just outside the area was sent in high and to the far post where there was no one ???
Couldnt work it out why they kept doing it ?

set pieces, including corners, seem to have been poor for Brighton for years. i dont know if its a not-top-drawer-players-trying-something-special or simply bad luck in having three or four squads inept at them.

We seem to play for winning corners, free kicks etc. instead of trying to get a quick pass or cross in.Therefore without training ,practice etc this seems like a complete waste of time and an area that needs a serious overhaul. If we are incapable of putting a set piece together then please do not play to try and win them!
