Over there
This was bought up on the budget thread by Bozza and Hans Kray.
But I thought it deserved a separate discussion of its own.
Isn't this the worst kind of patronising cynical politics?
Don't take this as party political because I distrust all political parties.

Not only cynical and patronising, it's only 1p off a pint anyway isn't it? You'd need to be an alcoholic barfly to save more than £10 a year.

Not only that, but when you consider most places round UP to the nearest 5p (Some Supermarkets & shops excluded), the only one's benefitting are those selling the stuff.

This is great news for Danny Alexander and the Lib Dems. They are part of a generally well-received, balanced Budget but can watch on as the Tories shoot themselves in the foot.

The Lib Dems now have a hook on which they can hang their "look, we're the only party representative of the WHOLE population" viewpoint, and I think they have a good argument.

As for Grant Shapps, the man is a buffoon.

Quite. How many Pubs will pass on the HUGE discounted penny to customers anyway? Patronising beyond belief. What next? Tax breaks on clogs, whippets and flat caps?

It's headline writers politics, basically in there for the tabloids to try and explain in basic terms what the budget is. Not sure The Sun will be leading on the anuities ammendments.

Its a little bit of help for pub landlords in the fight against cheap supermarket booze. You'd miss the pubs if they all disappeared.

A crass poster or whatever it was,but nevertheless, the budget has generally been well received in the country and anyway, the bingo/beer thing cheers the lefties up and gives them something to have a pop at after their leader's disastrous budget response yesterday.

What utter horseshit but to be expected from the likes of you. Your beloved party has royally ****ed up another budget, spat in the face of the average person and YOU think that's a bad look for lefty's? You are as dim as they come, and with your lot, that's pretty dim.

It's worse than you realise, supposing the tax cut is actually passed on to consumers and not immediately swallowed up by a price rise, at an average of £3.40 a pint it means that your 341st pint is free ! That's just over 45 gallons, thank's George !
