To think we thought watching football was an expensive pastime back then? I've no idea of the exact inflation figures year on year. Neverless, I suspect prices may have risen slightly above inflation? ??? ???

I have no idea how to work out what the prices would be now, if they had increased by inflation only.

However I am pretty sure that the cost of tickets have increased by way more than inflation.

Taking account for inflation Arsenals cheapest ticket is 10 times more expensive than in 1980. If you have want to watch them on Sky you have to pay for it and watch ads too. There are winners but they aren't the fans...

In 82/83 I Had about 10 grand a year coming in, so about £30 G today feels about right. I had a West stand season ticket in those days, which I am sure cost a lot more than £60.

Does show what value season ticket are nowadays though back then there were 21 home matches so a saving of only £3 unless any cup matches were included.

I bought my first terrace season ticket that year. Think it cost £35.

Why would anyone buy an Arse season ticket for £84 when you can watch all home league matches for £63?

Seasons only in best seats as now, no match sales in the back of central WSL....OR all cup tix included as there are now at Arsenal

Vis a vis inflation £20 (000) in property in 1980 would be worth £300 (000) ish today in Hove
