Brighton & Hove Albion left-back Stephen Ward says last night's 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers was vital as it kept the Seagulls in touch with the play-off places.
He told seagulls.co.uk, "It’s important that we stay in the shake-up because if we had got too far adrift it would have been difficult to get back in touch.
"We’ve been concentrating on giving ourselves a chance and the management staff have been ensuring we only focus on one game at a time. It is most important that we concentrate on ourselves and not the results around us.
"A lot of teams have been on good runs so it’s important we keep in touch with them and give ourselves a real chance of getting in the play-offs.
"A couple of weeks ago there were maybe three or four teams playing for one spot but you always hope others spaces will open up."

Ward, who played alongside Lewis Dunk due to Gordon Greer’s suspension, also praised the youngster for stepping in to the breach in such a big game.
"Dunky was great tonight. The cup run gave him, and others, some important game time and tonight when he was called upon he did well.
"We’ve all spoken about the home-form at the end of the season and the side were very formidable at home last year and we’ll look to repeat that but we’ll continue to take each game as it comes."
