Brighton & Hove Albion have been praised by the Football Association and Women In Football for their progressive approach to women's football at all levels, and the club's employment equality policies at the American Express Community Stadium.*
Today is International Women's Day, and the FA's Director of National Game and Women's Football Kelly Simmons told seagulls.co.uk, "Brighton & Hove Albion are one of the game’s most progressive clubs when it comes to equality and diversity, and this includes promotion of the women’s game.
"Their set-up from their women’s first-team down through their FA Girls Centre of Excellence, is first rate, and we are looking forward to taking the England team to the Amex for our World Cup qualifier against Montenegro at the start of April.
"The club also has a great record when it comes to employment, and it’s fantastic to see so many women working at Brighton."

Anna Kessel, writer for the Guardian and Observer and co-chair of the Women In Football group added, "It’s great to hear that Brighton & Hove Albion are championing the contributions of their women employees at the club and it will set a precedent to other clubs.
"I am finding that the football industry is now a lot more welcoming towards women compared to when we started the network in 2007.*
"International Women’s Day does give us a chance to highlight the achievements made by women in our sport, but it’s only one day out of 365. We want to continue acknowledging the contributions women make in football and ensure progress is still being made.”*
Albion's chief executive Paul Barber said, "It's great that our approach has been recognised as part of International Women's Day. We aim to be inclusive of all at the Albion, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, class, ability or any other social classification - in the stands, on the pitch and in terms of who we employ - and it's our policy to hire the best people regardless of gender or any other factor.
"Traditionally football is an industry which has been very male orientated, due to the nature of the game's origins, but the advances made across women's football in recent year have been phenomenal and the number of females now pursuing careers in the game is hugely encouraging."
