How can his conviction NOT have an impact on the day to day running of Birmingham City when he appears to have acquired the club for £81.5 million with laundered money?

I suspect that Fit and Proper is an evolving beast that, as yet, has not really bared its teeth. The problem is that most of these shady characters have got ownership because they didn't have any convictions at the time. In the case of Birmingham, he now seems to have circumvented the rules by transferring ownership to other members of his family. By the letter of the rules he is complying but certainly not in the spirit of them. Also begs the question as to what happens to the illegal money he has invested in the club!!!!
Typically the courts will move to seize all the assets, but as Brum are worth bugger all .....

This is one of 3 clubs where you don't need to be a genius to work out that there is a clucking obvious connection between the purchase of the club and money laundering.

Journo's clearly know this as some have 'played up' minor allegations reading between the lines
There must be some sort of criminal investigation - Surely?
When is it going to come out? It can't go under the carpet forever.

So what about the Leeds guy about to takeover? Hasn't he been convicted of money laundering or fraud? How can he possibly pass?

Interestingly, according to today's Companies House online records Birmingham City plc still has Carson Yeung as a director.

He is still a director and more pointedly, major shareholder. Before his trial he said he would not sell his shares but was branded a liar by the magistrate having since sold some of his shareholding.
4 of 5 directors are Carson Yeung appointments.
His (18 yr old?) son is a director.
The EPL have suggested that after tightening up their rules Yeung would not now pass their fit and proper person test.
The FL have indicated rhey will take no further action.
An unlisted Beijing based company thought by many to be a vehicle for Yeung and the people whose money Yeung was using have failed to put up the cash to buy shares.
BCFC have declined to negotiate with the Paladini-led consortium trying to buy the club Some may remember Paladini at QPR and the many questions about where the money behind him came from.
All-in-all it is a somewhat unsavoury mess and that isnt even beginning to include some of Gold and Sullivan's dealings before and during the sale to Yeung.

Fit and Proper will onyl ever be a fig leaf because the football authorities have no reach or resources to do full background checks of people from overseas, and would be probably sued for libel if they refused anyone on heresay.

I often quote how happy I am about this, the further you get up the chain the more dubious many owners can become, all about power and money.
As we know from before these things can happen so quickly and the FL/FA do very little to prevent it. We are very lucky to have Tony lets hope his influence remains for years and years.
