Referral fees

Our company have had a chap come to us offering to send clients our way (for a fee obviously).
He's asked us to put together a package.

Does anyone have any experience working with referral fees?
Was it a fixed fee, or a % of all sales?
If a fixed fee, I assume after a certain amount was received?
If a percentage, was this ongoing, or for a fixed period?
Bad or good experience?

Cheers x

I think it very much depends on what you do, and how your services work.

We've seen all kinds of agreements with partners, some are front loaded, so a single fee once signed, others are recurring with a contract quarterly or similar. Some might only pay out on the first year of a contract, some might be while the contract is in place, until that customer cancels.

3-12% is the range our partners offer for service based offerings
