Over there
Who collected back in the day?
I found a pile in a shoebox in the garage today with these 2 stuck together

It bought back the magic of trotting to the papershop with my pocket money, standing in the playground with a pile duplicates and saying "got, got, got, got, got, NEED, got, got"
And the magic of opening a packet and finding the FOIL Brighton badge

10p a pack, second division only a team pic, loved the ground pictures. My son has just started collecting them 50p a Pack and a poorer quality album for sure.

It all started in 1977/78 with this:

Here's the page featuring Brighton. Strangely, the photo is from the previous season's squad picture:

Then came this:

And the foil sticker was replaced with a cloth one:

The Mexico 86 World Cup one was the only one I (near enough) completed. The one with the Hungarian reserve goalkeeper who looked like a park bench tramp.

Europa '80 started it all for me. Finished the album and had about 6 reproductions of the map of Europe plastered all over my bedroom walls, wardrobe etc.. Last one, I think, was Italia '90 with several in between.

I think I was addicted to the smell of a freshly opened pack...

Mexico 86 was also one of those things you just don't get to experience any more: a World Cup sticker album featuring Scotland.

I've got Football 83 to Football 89 in the loft. For my birthday a couple of years ago, my Mrs bought an unopened pack of football 83 stickers off eBay & put them in my card. It took me ages to open the pack & I'm pleased to report, the smell is exactly the same!! (The stickers, not my Mrs...)

A few months ago I came across this site: http://cards.littleoak.com.au/index_fks_albums.htm

I spent a good hour down memory lane looking at this site and then finding individual cards being sold on eBay, cards I hadn't seen for 40 years, yet I still remembered a lot of them. Can still remember as an 8 year old, opening a packet and finding the FA Cup trophy and nearly wetting myself with excitement, those were the days!

Brighton - In your face
I traded in them about 10 years ago, as they were going for lots of cash on eBay. I made about £500. They need to be complete, or any spare stickers need to be 'rare'.

World Cup 78 started it for me, was hooked for many years after !

One thing that always puzzled me was why were each seasons album always launched in January ?

It was odd, especially as they didn't use the few months in the early part of the season to update the stickers e.g Steve Gatting was signed by Brighton in Sept 1981 but still featured in the Arsenal pages for Football 82.
