My favourite place for a walk which is free for National Trust members are now going to start charging for car Parking.
Nymans and Sheffield Park gain .

National Trust membership is well worth it over the course of a year.

I can understand at Wakehurst. They were thinking of closing it as it didn't earn enough money but car park charges is better than that.

From March it will cost members £5 for 2 hours and £10 for longer.

In April 2014, the Wakehurst Place team will introduce car parking charges for National Trust members. National Trust members will still retain free entry to Wakehurst.

Is this because officially Kew Gardens own Wakehurst Place with the NT managing it. Shame but places like that don't run themselves.

I understnd the need to raise money however IMO the charges are very high and will put people off going there.

I still think Sheffield Park is the best place in Sussex. Especially in Spring and Autumn.
