ALBION have the pundits on their side in their bid to repeat an FA Cup win against Hull on their way to their last quarter-final appearance 28 years ago.
Chris Cattlin’s Seagulls won 3-2 at Hull in the fourth round in 1986 before Southampton beat them in the last eight at The Goldstone.
Former Albion defender Mark Lawrenson, above left, has predicted a 2-0 victory for Oscar Garcia's side in tonight's fifth round clash at the Amex.
The BBC pundit said: “The Seagulls are struggling for goals a little bit but they have won their past four home games 1-0 and will also be looking forward to taking on Premier League opposition again after beating Newcastle in the FA Cup in each of the past two seasons. “Hull have to juggle their squad anyway, because their two January striker signings of Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long are both cup-tied, and I am pretty sure their manager Steve Bruce will not stop there. “Yes, it would be great for them to have a cup run but they are doing pretty well in the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight and their priority has to be staying out of trouble.”
Michael Owen, pictured right, also fancies Albion to cause an upset.
The ex-Liverpool and England striker, a summariser for BT Sport who are televising tonight's tie, said: The Seagulls have been knocking on the door of promotion to the Premier League in recent seasons and I think they might have too much for a Hull side who are beginning to wobble.”
