Wednesday pm, repeated Monday's, set your video.

The 'true***cough***life', story of James Bond writer Ian Fleming.

Being a bit of a Bondist I really enjoyed Fleming, and commend it to the house.

It's shows like this that me wish I was still with Sky ...... then I come to my senses and realise I'm glad I left them. Hopefully it will eventually be sold to one of the repeat channels.

It got the worst review I've ever read from AA Gill in the Sunday Times, and he doesn't usually mince words.

It would seem the joyless Mr Gill hates it for all the reasons I enjoy it.

It was never supposed to be person or place accurate.
It's pure Bond escapism, it does exactly what you'd expect a Fleming ripping yarn to do, and does it very well.

This. Quite miss Sky Atlantic (although I got to see the end of The Borgois before we departed for Virgin), but not that much.

Both Sky boxes were on the blink and they wanted up to £600 for new ones. Crazy when they offer so much to new customers, but that is how they reward 'loyal' ones. Not that Virgin, or anyone else, are any better in that regard.

True Detective next, starting Saturday.

That's supposed to be immense.

Virgin are better in that they own the boxes so replacements / repairs are free and their responsibility.

True, but what I meant was their treatment of new customers vs loyal ones.

A long-time Virgin customer I know couldn't get anything like the new package I signed up for the other month. The install guys said it themselves - loads of people just sign up with Virgin for 18 months, then hop back to Sky for the best new package, and continue to go between one and the other. And now BT Sport is in the mix, it adds to the fun…
