As thread says anyone know someone decent who does not cost the earth?

Would strongly suggest you don't just focus on cost when considering architect. Often worth paying a bit more for a decent architect to get best possible design. Overall not going to be a massive percentage of total cost so silly to compromise on design just to save a grand or two.

Also bear in mind its not just the cost of planning drawings/submission, but the working drawings/Building Regs approval after to factor in, which in my current experience doubles the initial cost!

And when doing your budget, don't forget VAT on most of it which really adds up, and also allow a lot more than you are probably guessing total extension cost will be!

Ecotecture in Haywards Heath are good. Depends how big and/or complex your planned extension is, though. A building surveyor might be the answer.
