We’ve had some good preparation and are looking forward to the game."
John Donoghue
Albion women travel to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup third round this Sunday.
John Donoghue’s side were due to play the tie last week, but the game had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
With the persistent wet weather affecting the country, the match will now be played on a 3G surface to prevent an increasing further fixture backlog; a decision which Donoghue welcomes.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “It’s nice to prepare for a game that has a realistic chance of going ahead, whereas last week we feared the worst.
“We had an opportunity to train instead last Sunday and will have fitted in two further sessions by the end of the week, so we’ve had some good preparation and are looking forward to the game.”
A Seagulls victory on Sunday will mean a trip to face Coventry City in the fourth round, but the Albion head coach is refusing to look that far ahead.
He added, “It would be silly if we thought about the next FA Cup game without playing the first one.
“We very fleetingly looked at Coventry; as we were due to play them in the league soon before the fixture list was rearranged.
“They provided us with one of our most challenging games of the season so far, but the team showed a real determination and fighting spirit to secure a 1-1 draw.”
*Albion have a few injury concerns ahead of the game, as Mollie Kmita has been ruled out with a twisted ankle while Charley Boswell has not trained due to a thigh injury.
*Skipper Tammy Waine will also be assessed after picking a groin injury, but Charlie Carter will be fit to face her former club after recovering from a slight back complaint.
