Train travel time restrictions?

Hi Paul,

I've been asked by a mate to post this:

Yesterday I caught the 07.42 from Clapham Junction, purchasing a ticket to Haywards Heath. When I produced my season ticket, the guard said they were only valid for a certain time period, it was too early but that he would let me off although some people would charge a penalty fare. I said I was not aware of any time restriction. When I asked what it actually was, he gave me a rather vague 'er 12.00 or something'.

Coming back through the Brighton barriers for the 21.49 to Clapham Junction yesterday, I had to be let through, the guard there said their was a time restriction, of 21.00 hours, but that he would let me through.

My mate often travels down early on a Saturday ahead of a match and has a couple of drinks at the Stadium after the match and in Brighton before heading home but hasn't had these issues before. Please can you advise if there has been any changes to the travel arrangements or if this is certain Southern employees not knowing the arrangements.

Thanks
