Spotted this on the official Club story though...

Fred was also a steward in the 1970s and 1980s on the Seagulls Special steam trains and after the trains stopped running became a steward on the coaches looking after fans as they travelled to away games.

I asked my daddy about that, and yes, they really did use a steam train to pull them

Last passenger steam train was 1968, so something not right.

There are photos of the seagulls Special being pulled by a steamer I believe, I guess they were special charter.
