Vitalijs Maksimenko has completed a move to Scottish Premier League outfit Kilmarnock on loan, subject to international clearance.*
The Latvian international will spend the remainder of the season with SPL side, who currently lie ninth in the top division.
Head coach Oscar Garcia said on the deal, “Vitalijs has been excellent in training and while representing the club at under-21 level but it is important that he is playing first-team football.
“This move provides him with that and the aim for him now is to win a place in their first team, but hold one down as well.”
David Burke added, “Maksimenko is an international defender who has shown the upmost professionalism while trying to force his way into the first team here.
“But his chances so far have been limited here due to the form of Gordon Greer, Matthew Upson and until recently Adam El-Abd; it is vital for his progression that he plays regularly.
“He already has a lot of experience at his age but this is a new one for him and we are confident he will get the most out of it and come back better for it."
The defender spent the final part of last season on loan at Yeovil Town, coming off the bench in the Glovers’ play-off final success against Brentford as the Somerset club reached the Championship for the first time in their history.
Maxi signed for Albion a year ago from Skonto Riga and has made one start and one substitute appearance for the south coast club.
