Very passé now, "Could do a job" generally referred to some once vaguely talented player who had been through ten clubs and was at the end of his career, and we hoped we'd be able to convince him to come and play for us at Gillingham or Withdean. I haven't heard the expression used since we got to the Amex though

Haha exactly someone who pretty much everyone is going to say "yeah, he could do a job" will never sign for us and if we did will turn out average at best!!!
