With the players we have we know we’ll compete against other clubs"
Oscar Garcia
Oscar Garcia insists that Albion have plenty to look forward to despite losing players to transfers and injuries over the last month.
Adam El-Abd and Ashley Barnes have both left the club in the past week coupled with an unfortunate season ending*injury to Andrew Crofts,*but the Albion head coach is hopeful of adding to his squad before the end of the month.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “We’ve lost some important players and obviously we need to bring in some new faces and hopefully we’ll do it.
“But we have to look ahead; we cannot stop here and cry about it, we have to look forward and see who wants to play and who can help the team and that’s what we’re trying to do.
“With the players we have we know we’ll compete against other clubs. It’s not easy because all of them are important players for us.
“It’s an important period of time, you can see most teams are signing players and we want to do so, but we have to think over a lot of things.
“We’ve lost some important players – but the club is working on a list of targets and we will see what we can do.”
Albion will look to cement their top six place at Derby tomorrow but Oscar is expecting to face a different side to the one which escaped from the Amex with a 2-1 win earlier this season.
“They had a different manager then and they have changed some things like their style of play and their formation.
“I like the performance we gave in that game against them at the Amex but, hopefully, tomorrow’s final result will be different.
“It’s the first of four tough away games but we have to take each game as it comes.
“They are one of the best teams in the league and it will be a massive test for us, but we will go there and play our game.
“Steve McClaren [Derby boss] has managed a lot of teams and he’s very experienced. He’s a good manager. You have to see where you can coach, where you can improve your career and obviously it’s a good experience to manage abroad, which he has also done.”
