Oscar Garcia’s Albion head to the iPro Stadium on Saturday aiming to continue their play-off push after hitting the top six for the first time this season last weekend, but how have the Seagulls fared at the home of Derby County before?*
If Albion can keep a third consecutive clean sheet in all competitions at the weekend then it will be the third straight visit that the Seagulls have kept the Rams at bay on their own patch, following last season’s goalless draw and the 1-0 win back in November 2011.
Craig Mackail-Smith’s first-half strike gave the south coast side their first and only win to date at Derby since the Rams moved into their new ground in 1997.
***************************Derby 0 Albion 1 back in 2011Brighton’s first visit to the stadium formerly known as Pride Park ended in a 1-0 defeat back in 2002 and the next visit ended in a heavier 3-0 loss to George Burley’s play-off chasing side in 2004.
Mark McGhee’s men returned on the opening day of the following season though and Dean Hammond’s early goal was enough to earn the Seagulls a point.
Derby taught Albion a lesson on their first ever visit way back in 1946 in a 6-0 win but in the Seagulls’ second visit 12 years later Brighton came away with a 3-1 victory.
