Albion women edged out Tottenham to reach the third round of the FA Cup after a scintillating match at Withdean.

*Watch the full game on the club's official YouTube channelTammy Waine broke the deadlock in the sixth minute when her looping effort rose over Chloe Morgan to give John Donoghue’s side the perfect start.
The Seagulls played some lovely free-flowing football in the opening stages, as Cherelle Khassal, twice, and Rosie Kmita came close to extending the lead.
But the North Londoners could have brought parity to the score-line right on half time, as Toni-Anne Wayne had to be alert to push away Jessica Cheesman’s long-range strike.
The equaliser did arrive though just four minutes into the second-half, as Jenna Schillaci cross went straight into the net after beating Wayne at the far post.
It didn’t take long for Albion to regain the lead thanks to former Spurs player R. Kmita, who latched onto a long-ball and calmly slotted past Morgan.
However the joy was short-lived after Tottenham drew level for a second time as Frances Gamble’s long free-kick into the box was met by the Wendy Martin, who guided the ball past Wayne.
Albion were not to be denied and scored the decisive third goal 15 minutes when Kirsty Barton perfectly executed free-kick flew over Morgan and into the net. *
Donoghue’s side nervously held onto their slender lead in the closing stages, as Spurs began to press forward in search of a third equaliser with Wayne called into action to save Jenna Schillaci’s speculative effort.
Substitute Katie O’Leary headed over the bar from a set-piece in the dying moments before goalscorer Martin had the chance to take the tie into into extra-time.*
The striker’s shot forced Wayne to make an acrobatic clearance before Yasmin Poole made a superb last-ditch challenge to deny the forward from inside the box to put Albion into the hat for the next round.
Albion: Wayne (GK); Boswell, Thompson-Agbro, Beaumont, Poole; R. Kmita (Somes 65), Young, Barton, Owen; Khassal (M. Kmita 88), Waine. Subs not used: Carter, Potkins.*
