Contracts / Moves

No not another Barnes thread just in general.

Over the last week or so we have seen players not wanting to sign contracts and hand in transfer requests. Read on another thread that Bridcutt should be rested for Saturday as his mind won't be on the job in hand.

My question is, if a player is clearly wanting to move away from the club or contract for whatever reason why stand in the players way. Yes, I know we need to get an income for the player by selling and where possible max out on the sale value, however that player is no value to the club if they are not selected because they are unsettled or unhappy.

To a degree we saw this with Vicente last season, he didn't want to play for the Albion but we called in a clause in the contract, he was clearly unsettled and unhappy so why stand in his way surely it's better to get them off the payroll and where possible sell them on for a reasonable fee and get in players who want to play with no baggage and be part of our future.

Isn't it better to have a happy ship.
