Unbelievable really that people still have to put up with this shit.

Toothless regulation

Backed by Service providers, who are allowed to charge ridiculous prices for line rental and then either want a premium, or don't even bother to provide a call barring service (Virgin I am looking at you here).

This is supposed to be effective http://www.ryman.co.uk/2973006060/True-Call-Nuisance-Phonecall-Blocker/Product?extcam=agg_gps_prod_feed_pf&istCompanyId=724692e0-2f99-4874-9565-6fc82074fe86&istItemId=lxppmwl&istBid=tzxp&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Product+Listing+Ads+JM&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=JR1xivNe|27873287700|||&gclid=CKTujKT78LsCFY_MtAodim8AUw

but £100 really ? come on, why is this service not included in the line rental, it is absolutely scandalous. How about politicians stop pissing about with porn filters and actually do something about this problem, which can be fixed with just a little political pressure.

end of rant.

Constantly bombarded with PPI calls on my mobile - even though I've made, and received my claim already (and signed up to the useless TPS).

I have to answer them as they are different numbers every time, and as I'm waiting for a kidney transplant I have to answer my phone.

I don't give out my mobile number , this stops all the unsolicited calls.

I went on Confused.com the other day for car insurance and they actually phoned me later that day about it. Cheeky buggers

If you have an Android smart phone just install the AVG app - its got a call/text blocker built in, so you can soon stop getting PPI rubbish from real numbers (just not the number withheld ones).

I am registered with TPS which cut out most of them. For those who insist on breaking the rules by ringing me I have found a referees whistle particularly effective at getting them to both hang up and not call back.

I bought a call blocker from Maplins for about £40. Very easy to install & use. Money well spent.

I don't see how that can work, they are different numbers every time (although the prefix is usually similar).

That certainly helps but my landline is regularly bombarded with calls from India and silent calls despite going on the TPS.

In my experience when an actual number is used there is only a limited set of numbers that they come in on (and do so repeatedly) - so it doesn't take long to block the lot.

Same here - so many of the buggers just ignore the TPS.

I've got a SIP number from sipgate.co.uk. It's a geographic number, in my case 01323 888xxx. It's set up to go straight to voicemeail and it emails me if someone leaves a message. Anytime I fill in a form or am asked for my phone number by a business I give them that. total cost £0

Smart move. Not sure it helps once they have already got your number and are plaguing you. For me it goes in phases, if I am up a ladder with a paintbrush 3 calls a day, other times none per week. It just irritates me that something as simple as call barring, is a service you are either expected to pay for, or find some smart workaround to avoid.
