I might be going crazy but when I was listening to the Sunderland United game last night I could swear that I heard "Sussex by the Sea" blaring out at half time. It's like Poyet's not happy with just stealing Bridcutt he's taking everything!

Did anyone else hear this of am I going crazy?

Maybe he's not crazy. I was at the Beamish Open Air museum last year (also up in that neck of the woods for people who don't know) and 'Sussex By The Sea' was played by an old steam-driven pipe organ type thingy (a bit like they use on old-fashioned merry-go-rounds).

I could well be woefully wrong, but I think it might be a marching song for one of the Northumbrian regiments, hence its useage up there. I think Lord Bracknell may know if this is true or not.

The marching bands often play it at Lords Cricket Ground, too. For what that's worth.

Usually the band from Christ's Hospital school... based in deepest WEST SUSSEX.

Yes. It was a Test match when CMJ was President and RMJ had retired from sussex cc and gone to teach at Christ's Hospital.
