When did The championship ever compare to the old Div 1? The old Div 1 is now the Premier so there would have been many. The Championship was the old Div 2. The simple answer is ANY world class players who played in English football would have done.

No, he played on loan for Swansea who would have been in what's now League 2 at the time. Think John Terry had a loan spell with Forest though at the beginning of his career. Also, Ashley Cole was on loan at Palace.
