Although Chicksen came on and did a fine job, does anyone know details of Ward's injury?

He went off in quite strange circumstances.
He'd been carrying the head injury for over 30 mins and Chicksen was stripped and ready to come on at about 40 mins but as we were defending a corner, the substitution was not made [suggests NOT critical].

Then with one minute of normal time remaining, the substitution was made. With halftime almost upon us, could the 15 minute break have allowed the medical team some time to sort the problem out? I thought his head bandage looked like it was coming off, maybe he was still bleeding. But we could have played the last couple of minutes with 10 to get us to half time.

Maybe he was concussed - double vision maybe. But 44 mins just seemed a strange time to make the change.

Anyone have more details?

No details known, but Oscar would have needed the half time to talk to the players about looking after Chickson rather than throwing him on fresh for 20 mins. The minute he played at the end of the first was to probably just to stretch his legs.

Oscar couldn't have timed introducing him to the bench better, so that in itself was a wise move and showed he has confidence in him doing a good job.

According to the latest club news, he carried on for a while because he and the medics thought he was ok. He then threw up on the pitch, so they suspected concussion and took him off.
