I think this is the first year I won't be going out or celebrating in any way at all, and it doesn't appeal to me at all.

Stay up for midnight, say "happy new year", have a drink, then go to bed.

Used to but when pub's started charging a fiver to get in; thought I'd give it a miss. And taxi's are prohibitively expensive, greedy basstads.

Save it all for whatever Albion game is on New Years Day.

I'll stay up and watch Jools as usual while trying to pretend it wasn't filmed in August.

For me it used to be exciting, of course I was younger but also the thought of drinking past midnight, perhaps even to 1 o/clock am was kinda decadent.

Not now, I can do that on a rainy Monday in February if need be, lost its sparkle.

Oh yes and I am getting old .......

We have been invited to a party, but we worked out that it was going to cost the best part of £50 for a cab home, so it will be a curry and a bottle of wine indoors, same as last year.

We celebrate New Year's Eve much more than Christmas and have done for the last 12 years

Where is the option for going over to friends, having a meal and playing silly games with them and their neighbours, drinking too much as the evening wears on, starting to fade towards the end of Jools and finally your missus driving you home and being poured into bed at around 2.30AM?

I celebrate the Solstice. The original December celebration in this country before we were invaded by Christians.
