Uk to Athens

A few years back wife and I drove to Cyprus but we are now looking for a holiday driving to Athens looking at the RAC journey planner we can either go via Austria or Hungary so we want to go one way and come back the other, any advice peop[le who have done it

Athens is a shithole. Go on to Pireaus and get a ferry to the islands.

Drive down to Italy, ferry from Brindisi to Piraeus.

I once did the journey on a London bus, some bird travelling with us just spent the time playing charades while the driver continually sung God bothering tunes.

Ferry from Venice to Patras, then drive along the Gulf of Corinth to Athens.

We did that in 1995 and went to Cyprus for 3/4 months but wish now to drive all of the way to Greece and either stay there or go to an island.

Piraeus is in the Athens suburbs.

I know where Pireaus is, it is the port of Athens , we went from there to Cyprus, it is the bit between Calais and Athens I am interested in.

Budapest is one of the best cities in Europe especially in summer!

Read my earlier post #3.
I had already said drive down to Italy & take the ferry from Brindisi. We have friends who live in Athens that did that journey in reverse.

I fully accept that but I dont want to go via Brindisi and ferry we have done that.
