Come on, it's not that easy. A Lord has to travel in to Inner London AND sign in to the House, AND hang around for half an hour or so. All for a measly three hundred notes. That's only fifteen hundred quid a week if the House of Lords sits that often.

Wonder if it's cash in hand on the day ?

£5700 for 19 days in one month. He says he can name at least 50 others that do exactly the same. This comes in the same day we learn that for the first time since the 2nd world war the generational standard of living in the UK is declining. We are going to have to stop cherry picking these individual cases and instigate a government wide reform on the activities of MP's etc. There just seems to be no end to the amount of piss they take.

Agreed, though I suppose the daily rags can only pick a couple of targets at a time.
It's not in the government's interest to reform though, since all Lords are tied to political parties. They'd much rather people thought it was just one or two wrongdoers.
"Full time" peer (from the beeb story). Yeah, ok.

they did this, but when it reported last week everyone jumped up and down on a headline pay increase which ignored the removal of expenses and other factors. we are going to have to stop sensenalist tabloid journalism to make real progress. (applies to alot more than just MP/Lords remittance)
