Nathan Jones hailed a “massive” win after Albion triumphed 1-0 at Middlesbrough.
Matthew Upson’s header from a corner on 86 minutes secured the points.
Assistant head coach Jones emphasised the importance of the win after the game and insisted it was a reward for the work Albion do on set-plays.
Jones said: “All three points are big, especially in this league with the close proximity of the teams in this league.
“But to come away to Middlesbrough – who are better than the position they are in – and to get three points is massive.
“In the first 20 minutes we could have been two or three up. Then we had to grind it out.
“We made positive substitutes to try to win the game.
“I can’t say how big a win it is and it keeps the momentum going.
“We do a lot of work on set-plays. We know the important of them, they win you games and they lose you games.
“Last week we were caught out by one which could have cost us. We pride ourselves on the work we do and we don’t leave anything to chance.”
Middlesbrough pressed Albion hard in the second half without ever really troubling Peter Brezovan who was protected well by an excellent defensive display.
Jones added: “I can’t emphasise how important the win was and to do it like that away from home. Sometimes 1-0s are better than threes and fours because they galvanise you.”
