Intel and Barcelona, the Spanish football club, have announced a deal to print the technology firm's logo on the inside of the club's latest kit, in keeping with the brand's "Intel Inside'" positioning.

Now obviously with Intel's strapline, Intel Inside, you can see where they're coming from with this. BUT is it just a one off because of their brand or is it something that could become more commonplace?

Would the sponsor encourage players to do the shirt over the head celebration more often?

Other than the fact that they'll get a lot of media attention for being the first firm to do it, it does seem a very unusual sponsorship tactic. You are essentially paying to HIDE your logo. Can that work?

But if players started lifting their shirts up, say after scoring, to reveal the inner sponsor, surely the sponsors on the front would soon get pretty pissed off

I thought Bozza CHARGED for advertising on NSC. Have Intel managed to sneak a bit of free publicity on to the site?

How depressing. Its not so long ago that Barcelona remained the final bastion of non-shirt sponsorship. Now look at them.

"This goal was brought to you by Lionel Messi, in association with Intel"

It is a shame, but inevitable in current climates and trying to compete financially with Real Madrid and the rest of Europe's giants. They are in the process of deciding whether to redevelop completely rebuild the Camp Nou, mainly to get more corporate seats in.

The Intel sponsoring can only be a gimmick and successful for being the first one to do it.
