Albion could be forced into another defensive change as they prepare to face Middlesbrough.
Left-back Stephen Ward is racing against time to be fit for the clash on Teesside after taking a kick to the foot against Leicester on Saturday.
Ward did not train with the first team squad at Withdean yesterday.
Goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak (stomach muscle) and centre-back Gordon Greer (calf) are expected to miss out at the Riverside.
Assistant head coach Nathan Jones described Ward as “touch and go” for the weekend.
Albion have Inigo Calderon as a ready-made replacement at left-back but their defensive resources could face their biggest test of the season to date.
Centre-back Lewis Dunk played 90 minutes in an under-21 friendly at Charlton yesterday and would be an obvious option to bring into the matchday 18.
Dunk was up against senior striker Marvin Sordell in the first half and young pro Joe Pigott in the second as Albion came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
Jones insisted Greer, who limped out of the 3-1 win over Leicester last Saturday, would be doing all he could to make a swift recovery.
He said: “He wants to play, he wants to come back.”
