Adam El-Abd
Adam El-Abd said the players didn’t need any extra motivation to beat Leicester City, such was their determination to bounce back from the Barnsley defeat.
The Egyptian defender told seagulls.co.uk, “Of course we didn’t [need motivation]. We have a great dressing room and we all want success, we are a very driven group and we were all disappointed with what happened Tuesday; we were determined to put it right.
“Thankfully we have done that but it is just one game and three points. It is the same whoever you play, it is the same three points, but we take the result into next week and hopefully we can come away with another positive result.
“It was important that we won because obviously Tuesday was very disappointing. That sums this league up though, you cannot take anything for granted.
“Each game poses different threats, whether you are playing the bottom or the top, each game is equally as difficult.
“We take that on board with us and in our mindset for the rest of the season. Hopefully we can start doing better against the lower teams and continue to do as well as we have against the better sides.”
El-Abd also sang the praises of goalkeeper Peter Brezovan who stepped in at the last minute to replace Tomasz Kuszczak after the Pole pulled out in the warm-up.
“I cannot praise Pete enough. He was sick on Friday and wasn’t able to train, and with Casper Ankergren out he goes from on the bench to finding out 15 minutes before kick-off that he is starting.
“He has come in and done fantastic and the boys are absolutely buzzing for him. It cannot be easy to keep your mind right but he has done that, and he is a massive asset to the squad.”*
