Man City's away strip in 1968 was red and black stripes, could be then?

Be ready for us to change kit when we get to the Prem then. That's an awfully long time ago and Huddersfield won the league a few times in the early 30's.

Their era was the 1920s. By the 1930s, Arsenal had superseded the Terriers.

Herbert Chapman brought success in that era to Huddersfield as manager and transferred that success to Arsenal.

Blackburn?

They certainly had a black away shirt with thin red stripes the season they won it.

BTW, this business of teams in stripes not winning titles is true of the Premier League, but in Italy teams in stripes usually win the Scudetto - Inter, AC Milan, Juventus - while there's a team in Spain who wear blue and maroon stripes that I hear are quite good. And Bayern Munich have worn stripes at various times.

1980/81 was the last time no team in red finished as champions or as runners-up in England.

That's pretty much a longer way of saying Man United wear red.

Choice of 3 Man United Arsenal or Liverpool. This re enforces the view of many sports psychologists that red is the best colour to wear as it the players are easier to see on a pitch at a quick glance and if you watch the games it appears that there are more players on the field if a team wears red.

Does it also follow that Manchester United, under SAF, were allowed extra time until they scored?

Since its start a team wearing Red has either won or been runners up in the Premier League every season.

Since its start a team wearing blue has either won or been runners up 10 times out of 21, nearly 50%. So we should be ok for next season!

I suspect that red and blue would cover the majority of teams home colours so these two stats are a bit weak although the stripe one is interesting.

But, the team that wear red and blue stripes will never win anything.
