Abort, retry, fail
They've got quite an old team, haven't they? A lot of their key players are over 30.

I haven't paid a huge amount of attention to them, but presumably Fayed lost interest in the club before he sold it.

It's either him or AndeVillasBoas Monday morning.

AVB has pulled off the biggest con job in football. How on earth he has landed 2 multimillion pound management deals at 2 if the PL's top clubs is incredible. Even Mourinho & Wenger played a decent non-league level. AVB is just a football nerd. His standing in the game shows how blinded the game can be.

He looks sensational in a suit though.

winning the second biggest european club competition makes him a con? his only failing is he can't deal with the massive egomaniac bellend players in the premier league

Wonder how long Zola has at Watford?

Losing 3-0 at home to Yeovil can't be pleasing the foreign owners much.

A bus driver could of managed that Porto side they were such a good group. That's still his longest job - 12months. What has he proved at 36yrs old to be getting these top jobs in football!? It's truly astonishing.

clearly as an ex-manager he will beat Tottenham, following up with another sting of defeats after.

Football like many other walks of life is full of con-men. Good salesmen who can keep talking themselves into jobs of work. Sven was the classic example. He was clever enough to create an aura of mystery about himself, bespectacled and with an air of intellectualism, he intrigued and interested people. He conned the susceptible into offering him top jobs.
AVB has studied and copied Mourinho. The monotone and staccato type of delivery, the soundbites, the mystery, the intrigue. These men can only get so far as they don't have the ability to back it up.
Jol was a decent, aggressive midfielder and comes across as a tough, no nonsense manager, lacking the charisma to lift teams out of a slump. He looks like he should be playing Henry 8th on TV rather than managing Fulham.
Sadly, both won't last. Very few do. It is a ruthless profession. Chairmen sift through endless lists of candidates trying to find the occasional gems amongst the many treadmill warriors and con-men.
Only a very few football managers have more success than failure and the rest hop from job to job, desperately trying to create a name for themselves. AVB and Martin Jol ( who I quite like ) will find their level back in Europe somewhere, but not at the highest level.
