Albion are confident the pitch at The Amex can take the pace
Albion's pitch at The Amex will not be ruined by the 2015 Rugby World Cup, according to organisers.
They have allayed fears about the rapid turnaround between matches at the Seagulls’ home.
The first game between South Africa and Japan or Sri Lanka on Saturday, September 19 kicks-off at 8pm.
Groundstaff will be working through the night to ensure the pitch is ready for a midday kick-off the following day between Samoa and the USA or Uruguay.
It is the quickest turnaround at any venue in the whole tournament but organisers are confident there will be no repercussions for Albion once they return to action from an international break. International Rugby Board chief executive Brett Gosper told The Argus: "It has been done in total partnership with the club, because it’s their stadium.
"They have obviously had a look at it and said this is a pitch that can stand up to it. It’s a good surface and there is no history of problems."
Albion’s Fibrelastic pitch at The Amex was selected by head groundsman Steve Winterburn following an extensive research and consultation process.
