Shodibo 34, Beccles 80 & Pattie 89Albion's under-18s suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers.
Falling behind in the first half, Albion rallied but ultimately struggled to gain a foothold against a Rangers side who secured the win with two late goals.
The game started evenly with both teams comfortable in possession but, on the half-hour mark, the visitors edged themselves in front as Simon Rusk’s men failed to clear a loose ball.
There was little Ollie Wray in the Albion goal could do as the on-rushing QPR striker Shodibo found an extra yard and saw his effort fortuitously go in.
Spurred on, the visitors almost doubled their lead before half-time as they broke quickly, only to see the linesman raise his flag at the last second.
Moments later, Wray was called into action again – producing a superb stop to ensure it was only 1-0 at the break.
Following the re-start, Albion’s youngsters were the livelier side but found themselves facing a QPR team that looked dangerous in possession.
Undeterred, the Seagulls kept trying to find a way through and almost equalised when a long-range effort was spilled by the visiting keeper before a covering defender prevented Robin Deen from levelling.
Then, with only ten minutes left to play, the Hoops doubled their advantage as Beccles cut in from the edge of the area and saw his effort squirm through Wray’s grasp and over the line.
It was a little undeserved and they soon added a third as Pattie, on as a substitute, finished calmly to secure the win.
Albion: Wray; Collar, Barnett, Hutchinson, Horncastle; Courtney, Davis (Benham, 60), Wiltshire, Muitt (Deen, 51); Drew, Tighe (Pring, 85).
