Match winner Andrew Crofts says the three points against Wigan were enormous for Albion.

The midfielder’s fifth goal of the season earned Oscar Garcia’s side a 1-0 win at the FA Cup holders, and the Welsh international was buoyant after the victory.

He told seagulls.co.uk, “To come here and get three points is a massive win for the boys and that is three in a row now, and five unbeaten. The boys have put in a really hard shift out there today and we got what we deserved and we are going home happy.

“Their squad is really squad but we came out here with the same plan as usual; we go into every game looking to win and we showed that today.
*
“To be the first team to come here this season and beat Wigan, it’s a huge win. The gaffer said before the game that it would be great to be the first team to do it and it is brilliant that we have.”

The Seagulls’ top scorer was quick to highlight the performances of his team-mates, in particular Ashley Barnes.

“Barnesy was outstanding today. He worked tirelessly all day, his hold-up play was brilliant and he was causing their centre-backs nightmares, that is what he is about and I personally love playing with him.

“He gives it everything every week and what he did today was massive for the team and it was a huge performance from him.

“Tomasz made a world-class save, the back four were superb, in fact the whole team effort was brilliant.

“The boys have trained hard during the international break, which came at a good time even though we were on good form, but we re-grouped and we go again.”
