Matt Upson (right) sees a bright international future for defensive partner Gordon Greer (left)
* Matt Upson insists age is no barrier to the international prospects of his Albion centre-half partner Gordon Greer.

* Skipper Greer, 33 next month, leads the Seagulls out at Wigan tomorrow fresh from back-to-back senior caps for Scotland.

* Upson was 31 when he scored in his last appearance for England in the 4-1 defeat by Germany in the last 16 of the World Cup in South Africa three years ago.

* He said:* "I think centre-halves are similar to goalkeepers. You do mature. Everyone has got their own journey and everyone's journey is different.

* "But I think it's a position that, if you persevere with and you understand it and learn it and tactically get better then you become a better player with age. I think Gordon's in that bracket."

* * Read the full exclusive interview with Upson inside tomorrow's Argus.
