Why shouldn't Hull get a boost like this?
Measured up against the other candidates (Leicester, Dundee, Swansea), I think it's just as deserving. It has a lot of historical significance and is IMHO a more interesting and attractive city than its reputation.

derr, it's not about recognising how cultured a city already is, it's about encouraging it's development and enhancing what they already have. In the past, it's done wonders for cities like Glasgow, Cardiff and Liverpool.

Ha;when I saw it on the news,I had similar thoughts such as London Rd. Bognor Regis being voted best street for tasteful high class shopping in the U.K.always frequented by beautiful people!
