Rohan Ince has impressed this season
Albion*head coach Oscar Garcia is poised to persevere with youth as the fight for places in the engine room hots up.
He could have as many as eight players available for three midfield spots for Saturday’s return to action at Wigan.
But Jake Forster-Caskey and Rohan Ince will still be central to his plans for the game at the DW Stadium.
Both started the last outing before the international break with Andrew Crofts, when Albion beat Blackburn Rovers at The Amex.
Liam Bridcutt made his comeback from injury as a second half substitute and Kemy Agustien was also on the bench, although the Dutchman was not used.
Keith Andrews (calf) and Andrea Orlandi (knee) could also now be involved in the squad to face Wigan, while the anticipated return on the right wing of Will Buckley (hamstring) puts David Lopez back in the frame in central midfield as well.
Forster-Caskey responded to Oscar urging him to get forward more by adding to a long-distance strike in the last away game at Doncaster with a header which gave Albion a 2-0 cushion against Blackburn.
Oscar said: “We have asked him to get in the box, because he has enough quality to do it and enough power to go box-to-box. I am very pleased with how he is playing.”
The powerful Ince, recalled against Rovers after Andrews’ late withdrawal, delivered a more attack-minded performance which has presented Oscar with another selection poser for the trip to Lancashire.
The Spaniard said: “He (Ince) has enough power to do it if he plays with Liam or, if he plays with Jake, then one of them has to push on. This is what I want to have, a selection headache.”
